Job Description : IT Network/Server Support Consultant – Public Pension System The New York City Board of Education Retirement System (BERS) is one of many public pension systems in New York City. Founded in 1921, BERS proudly serves over 55,000 members on a yearly basis. The combined work of our 130 employees contributes to BERS success in providing retirement, death, disability, and survivor benefits to New York City civil service non-pedagogical titles not limited to: administrative, substitute, paraprofessionals etc.Please visit our website at: www.bers.nyc.govNOTE: This position is temporary and may potentially lead to a full-time position. The hourly pay is: $45.00 per hour for a 35-hour workweek.The ideal candidate should have a firm knowledge in network infrastructure, server and storage stack and Microsoft Windows environment; understand and troubleshoot hardware and software related issues; be able to work on multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment; ensure that deadlines are met; and work effectively under pressure. Be resourceful, forward-thinking and committed. Please note: the selected candidate will be required to work from our offices (65 Court St. Brooklyn and 55 Water Street, NYC) as well as remotely. Duties & Responsibilities: Responds to and resolves support-related service desk calls as needed/escalated/assignedInstalls, upgrades, and maintains physical and virtual servers, as well as network devicesCommunicates and documents issues and resolutions for knowledge sharing to other support staffs to minimize user downtimeCommunicates and coordinates with senior technical staff and other teams to provide or implement permanent solutionPerforms software installations or hardware deployments following standard procedures.Leverages available tools and resources. Coordinates with users to ensure timely delivery following standard SLAs with minimum impact to businessGathers requirements from end-users and other key stakeholders to ensure that existing and future technology solutions are in alignment with business needsMonitors infrastructure assets, including but not limited to network performance, resource utilization and scheduled jobs execution. Manage and resolve issues with other IT supportProvide remote support to user’s system for troubleshooting purposesDraft and maintain IT support related documentation, including but not limited to, user instructions, troubleshooting steps, checklists and workflow or processes.Help in refreshing and provisioning all IT hardware assets based on established protocols, and maintain their inventory status in Fresh ServiceNeed to provide on-site IT service and support for both locationsMust have/be: Bachelor’s Degree with technical certificates from Microsoft, and/or CiscoHands-on experience with minimum of 5 years in network infrastructure including servers, switches, routers, and storage strategies.Must have good understanding of system protocols, LAN/WAN topologies, backup and recovery and security management.”Work Location: * One locationWork RemotelyNoJob Types: Full-time, TemporaryPay: $45.00 per hourSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayCOVID-19 considerations:New hires will be required to provide proof of having received the COVID-19 vaccine.Education:Bachelor’s (Required)License/Certification:Microsoft or Cisco technical certificates (Preferred)Work Location: One location
