Job Description : The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist Journey located in King Salmon!
What you will be doing:
The incumbent maintains and repairs all field equipment used in fisheries research and management projects in Bristol Bay. Also maintains office, bunkhouse, and warehouse facilities in Dillingham and King Salmon and all ADF&G field facilities in Bristol Bay.

The mission of the Division of Commercial Fisheries is to manage subsistence, commercial, and personal use fisheries in the interest of the economy and general well-being of the citizens of the state, consistent with the sustained yield principle, and subject to allocations through public regulatory processes.
This position is a critical member of the ADF&G Commercial Fisheries team within Bristol Bay and contributes to the divisions success by keeping equipment and facilities operational, without which, the Division would be unable to fulfill it’s mission.
Benefits of joining our team:
This is a dynamic position that covers two field offices (King Salmon and Dillingham) and nine field camps in Bristol Bay, the largest sockeye salmon fishery in the World. There are opportunities for training on mechanical systems and outboard motors. This position works with field staff in town and in field locations during the summer months and frequently works independently during most of the fall and winter months. This provides some opportunities for overtime in the summer and some flexibility in work schedule during fall and winter months.
The working conditions you can expect:
Work projects will take place throughout the Bristol Bay area, but the majority of projects and work time is spent in the Dillingham and King Salmon shop facilities.
We are looking for a candidate that possesses some or all of the following position-specific competencies (If you have any experience with the following, please document these in your application and supplemental questions):
Knowledge of:work practices, methods and processes related to the building and maintenance trades
Knowledge of and ability toperform fundamental electrical and plumbing maintenance and repairsperform fundamental repairs and maintenance of boilers/furnaces and heating/air
conditioning systemsfabricate and design, such as wood and metal modifications for a variety of structures or
mechanical, plumbing, environmental systems and equipment repairsmaintain and make repairs on small engines such as outboard motor

Special Note:
A valid driver’s license is required.
Requires occasional field travel, long hours, physically demanding work (normally three trips of up to 5 days per year).
Requires frequent travel to King Salmon or Dillingham (normally one trip of up to 10 day length occurring monthly).
