Job Description : DEPARTMENT: Cross Connection Control, Coweta County Water and Sewerage AuthorityJOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for participating in the reading of water meters.MAJOR DUTIES:o Assists in the collection of delinquent accounts and in water turn-offs for non-payment.o Responds to and investigates customer complaints regarding leaks, high readings, or other service related complaints.o Reads water meters on an assigned route.o Rechecks meter readings as appropriate.o Assists in the maintenance of assigned vehicle and equipment.o Performs other related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:o Knowledge of Water and Sewerage Authority policies and procedures.o Knowledge of water meter reading operations.o Knowledge of the operational characteristics of hand-held and radio meter reading equipment.o Knowledge of meter location.o Knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service.o Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.o Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.o Skill in the operation of assigned vehicle.o Skill in oral and written communication.SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Cross Connection Control Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed outdoors. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and occasional cold or inclement weather.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:o Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.o Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.o Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.Job Type: Full-timePay: $1.00 per hourBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayOn callExperience:Meter Technicians & Readers: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:Driver’s License (Preferred)Work Location: One location
