As an ACT Peer Support Specialist in our ACT Program, you will work with our ACT Team, providing 1-on-1 and group services to adults living with severe/persistent mental illness and substance use disorders/co-occurring conditions.The ACT Peer Support Specialist, under the direction of the ACT Team Leader, will function as a member of the ACT team by providing essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each client’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. The ACT Peer Specialist is someone who has received or is currently receiving services for a mental illness and provides services to peers from a lived experience perspective. This position is a fully integrated Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team member who provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes client self-determination and decision-making from a whole health perspective.Compensation begins at $16.00-$18.00 per hour, DOE. Education: High school diploma or GED. College course work in related area of psychology, human services, social work, education or communications is a plus.2. Experience: Personal lived experience with a mental illness.3. Skills: Ability to make decisions in emergency situations. Warm, caring, patient and reliable. Ability to consult effectively with fellow workers and to work as a team member. Treat individuals with respect and dignity at all times.4.
