Position : Plant Safety Coordinator

Job Description : Job Summary:Works with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements. In addition, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing company’s employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.Job Function: Other duties may be assigned:Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).Management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.Works closely with staff in Engineering, Human Resources, Legal, Operations, and Research and Development.Conducts company safety training needs and plans,Conducts training for employees in work site safety practices on a monthly basis.Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletter and specific training programs.A member of and participates in company occupational safety and health committee. Drives agenda and content at these meetings.Maintains safety files and records, tracking lost time accidents and all injuries.In conjunction with Sanitation and Maintenance Department performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.Position Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Must be demonstrate comfort with holding members of organization accountable to holding to OBC standards of safety.Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and auditor safety software.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedbackDisclaimerThis job description is not intended, and should not be construed to be, an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with the job.
