Job Description : JOB TITLE: DEPUTY CLERKDEPARTMENT: Shelby County Probate Court STARTING SALARY: Commensurate with education, abilities and experience, position is full-time with benefits, including paid sick and personal leave, vacation leave after one year of service, pension, health insurance (with partial pay by employee)HOURS: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.POSTED DATE: March 9, 2022DEADLINE: April 8, 2022 Job Purpose: Under supervision, performs general clerical tasks for the Probate Court Clerk’s office in accordance with this Court’s local rules and the rules governing courts of the State of Ohio. The clerk’s duties involve a high degree of repetition and require a mature and professional attitude.Minimum Qualifications:Completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) year experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The successful applicant will be detail oriented, and have the ability to prioritize and work under pressure. Computer and typing skills required and preferred understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. Must also be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation.Essential Job Functions:Receive, review and process filings; review and verify the accuracy of files, legal documents and correspondence in compliance with rules/laws; issue marriage licenses; enter case information into case management system; provide specialized information to the public; process and collect fees; issue certified mailings; operate a variety of office equipment; perform other duties as required by Supervisor.Knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform duties:Knowledge of the policies, procedures and operating systems of the Probate Court helpful; knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply relevant state laws and rules of practice; ability to multi-task and perform duties in a fast paced environment; ability to clearly communicate with attorneys, support staff and general public.Conditions under which work is performed:Fast paced environment with constant interruptions.
