The Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) provides probation, detention and treatment services to Alaskan youth statewide. There are six youth facilities and 13 probation offices across Alaska. The DJJ State Office provides statewide agency administrative support and management oversight for juvenile probation services and juvenile facilities as well as program management and safety and quality assurance services. What you will be doing
You will be responsible for the development, implementation and review of statewide policy and planning for probation, facility, and state office and be the lead staff for the division on Medicaid programming, including quality assurance. You will serve as the division point of contact for residential placement and health related policies and protocols and review, respond, and coordinate information requests to the public, other departments, and facilitate system changes related to regulatory and policy changes.

The working environment you can expect
For Anchorage applicants: You will work in an office/cubicle setting located within the McLaughlin Youth Center in Midtown near the University. McLaughlin Youth Center is DJJ’s largest youth detention and treatment facility with separate units for detention, treatment, and administrative work areas.
For Juneau applicants: You will work on the 7th floor of the Court Plaza Building on Main Street in a cubicle setting with an incredible view of downtown Juneau.
The DJJ State Office team consists of 28 staff located across the state who are committed to supporting statewide efforts to improve services and implement evidence-based programs that strengthen juvenile and system outcomes.
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). You must provide detailed response to each of the following KSAs in the Question section of this application to be considered for an interview.
Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion.
Knowledge of the Medicaid program, enrollment, eligibility, and utilization for behavioral health programs.
Knowledge of Alaska residential service providers for juveniles.
Experience facilitating work groups on complicated and sometimes controversial subjects among diverse interests.
Skill in analyzing complex issues and situations, drawing logical conclusions, and proposing viable solutions and courses of action.

Minimum Qualifications
Program Coordinator 1:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
AND
Two years of professional experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and procedures for a program, project, business, or organization.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
Four years in any combination of post-secondary education from an accredited college (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of work experience) and technical or professional experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and procedures for a program, project, business, or organization, may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. There is no substitution for the required two years of professional experience.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
A master’s degree from an accredited college in a field closely related to the specific field of the program may substitute for the required experience (2 semester hours or 3 quarter hours equal one month of experience).
Program Coordinator 2:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
AND
Three years of professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program. This experience must have included administrative authority over program/project funding, staff, and overall operations.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
Four years in any combination of post-secondary education from an accredited college (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of work experience) and technical or professional experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and procedures for a program, project, business, or organization, may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. There is no substitution for the required three years of professional experience.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
A master’s degree from an accredited college in a field closely related to the specific field of the program may substitute for up to two years of the required experience (2 semester hours or 3 quarter hours equal one month of experience).

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant’s training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level of the position. If filled at level 1, promotion to the level 2 will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and final approval by supervisor. It is recommended and encouraged that you apply for any/all levels that you are qualified for.
