What You’ll Be Doing:
Under the general direction of the Programs Manager this position plans, implements, supervises, evaluates, and promotes various athletic programs and recreational activities. Also, manages athletic program operations and maintenance, and provides supervisory and administrative work for athletic program staff and volunteers.

Have a strong understanding of, and alignment with the District’s Core Values: Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer Service.Research, develop, plan, and evaluate athletic programs that meet the needs and interests of the community.Create and edit program area information for seasonal activities guide, promotional materials, and registration software.Makes recommendations to improve operations and expand program participation.Communicates openly and effectively with supervisors, co-workers, staff, participants, parents, volunteers, contractors, and other community members.Analyzes, forecasts, prepares and monitors budgets and financial information with the assistance of the Program Supervisor.Assists with special projects and special events on behalf of the District as needed and assignedProvides excellent customer service.Proficient knowledge of current principles, practices, trends, and methods of athletic programs operation, program planning, policies, procedures, development, implementation, promotion, and coordination.Ability to negotiate, prepare and oversee contracts.Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate, develop, and discipline staff, contractors, and volunteers to ensure safe and effective servicesConducts staff meetings.Models’ appropriate behaviors and handles complaints and disciplinary problems involving patrons or staff in a professional manner while adhering to District policies and proceduresServes as a member on departmental committees as assigned.Can work with and supervise a variety of age groups and effectively supervise the work of these individuals.Manage the daily operations, cleanliness, and maintenance of athletic program areas.Help coordinate the annual maintenance/clean week.Acts as the Manager on Duty as needed.Reacts to emergency or non-emergency situations in a composed manner using sound judgmentProficient knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operation, and techniques used in an athletic program.This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the job. . Requirements:

WORKING CONDITIONS:This position requires a high level of physical ability including standing for long periods, bending, reaching, lifting, jumping, walking, stretching, etc. Most duties are performed in a recreation center and outdoors. This position will work closely with customers of varying abilities and must be comfortable acknowledging those different abilities and aptitudes.Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body).Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
