Position : Vice President, Strategic Sourcing
Job Description : Reporting to the Chief of Supply Chain for Sentara Healthcare the Vice President is responsible for supporting a Supply Chain portfolio by leading, managing, transforming and developing the sourcing function and all sourcing relationships at Sentara Healthcare. This role is accountable for directing a large contract portfolio overseeing hundreds of bids per year and facilitating new agreements a year. Responsible for oversight of several Value Analysis Committees assessing new technology requests. Creates and executes the sourcing strategy, optimizing existing Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO) relationships, negotiating contracts and designing and executing against innovative sourcing arrangements to achieve savings and to build and maintain a competitive contract portfolio. The role serves as an internal advocate of Sentara Healthcare’s product and service standardization and utilization initiatives to improve, collaborate and support department managers by eliminating barriers, formulating alternative solutions, understanding cost models, and determining clinical acceptability of product alternatives. Accountable for savings from pipeline generation, consensus building, and implementation of new recurring expense reductions.Required Education : Bachelor’s Level Degree ORMaster’s Level Degree – Experience in lieu of education: YesExperience : Required: None, unless noted in the “Other” section belowPreferred: Contract Leadership – 10 years, Financial Management – Previous experience, Procurement – 10 years, Strategic Sourcing – 10 years, Supply Chain Operations – Previous experienceExperience in a health care setting, with in-depth knowledge of inpatient and outpatient operations and physician group organizations is strongly preferred.The role requires a deep understanding of Supply Chain functions, including, but not limited to, knowledge of GPO and local contract sourcing, and related procedures pertaining to supply chain operations management and purchasing. Extensive knowledge of product categories, proposals processes, asset inventory procedures, negotiations, bid procedures, audit procedures, leasing and capital purchase procedures is also required.
