Job Summary/Basic Function:
Nestled between the scenic Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound in an increasingly diverse and fast-growing region of the country, Everett Community College is seeking a tenure-track Arts instructor to begin serving in the Fall quarter of 2022.

The position reports to the Dean of Arts, Learning Resources, and Pathways. Prepares and teaches foundation art courses including one or more of the following: drawing, design, and art appreciation/history. Courses taught could include specialty courses in the studio arts; such as painting, printmaking, illustration, 3D design, and/or digital art. Some evening teaching assignments may be required. Course modalities could include in-person, online, hybrid, or hyflex formats.

Facilitates student learning by using a variety of teaching modes including lecture, discussion, laboratory, demonstration, and/or active learning. Uses authentic assessment methods to evaluate individual student learning and achievement of course, program, and college learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum development and all other tasks related to instruction in accordance with faculty contract and College policy. Provides academic advising and mentorship to students in the Studio Arts and other programs.

Through our Guided Pathways Advising model, full-time Instructional and Counseling faculty serve as program advisors for students. Faculty in these areas are assigned a caseload each year in line with the AFT Faculty Contract. These duties include, but are not limited to building and maintaining professional relationships with advisees to support them in their goals, creating, reviewing and approving academic plans; providing career and/or transfer advice; and making referrals to appropriate EvCC support services.

Minimum Qualifications:

M.F.A, M.A.T. in Art, M.Ed. in Art, or M.A. in Studio Arts.
College level teaching experience in at least one of the following foundation courses: drawing, design, or art appreciation/history.
Experience or expertise serving underrepresented students or communities (i.e inclusive or antiracist pedagogy; mentoring and/or advising underrepresented students; using data to reflect on classroom practice an opportunity gaps; professional specialization in Black, Latino or Indigenous art and expression)

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated evidence of inclusive excellence in teaching at a community college, including student, supervisor, and/or peer evaluations.
Demonstrated experience in academic advising and curriculum development.
Demonstrated evidence of using innovative instructional strategies to facilitate student learning including high impact practices, evidence-based pedagogies, and cycles of inquiry to improve practices.
Demonstrated ability to partner and work collaboratively work effectively with students and colleagues of various ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Demonstrated commitment to and involvement in professional and campus activities.

Salary: $66,288 – $69,602 Fall to Spring
