Position : Billing Specialist
Job Description : The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing, accounts receivable and collections. Knowledge to convert proformas into accurate client invoices on a timely basis. Understand and maintain client and matter billing details. Responsible for editing and uploading time entry details. Understand the impact billing adjustments have on financial metrics and statistics. Secondary focus on accounts receivable and collections.
High volume legal invoicing with a variety of billing guidelines and rules.
Able to understand and process legal billing for simple and complex invoices
Produce invoices accurately and timely in compliance with client guidelines and firm policies.
Knowledge of multiple discounts by matter, split-party billing, preparation and submission of e-bills.
Review, verify and finalize accuracy of billing and supporting documentation.
Accurately maintain client/matter database for all fields. Update client/matter addresses, designations, budgets, bill notes and billing setup. Thorough review of all new and amended legal service agreements to ensure billing compliance and that matters are properly setup.
Updates time loads and edit entries to comply with firm and client standards.
Initiate discussion of aging accounts receivable with appropriate individuals.
Perform clerical billing and general office tasks with limited supervision.
Sorts, files and distributes reports electronically or in paper form.
Work within deadlines and effectively handle stress.
Establish effective working relationships and appropriately interact with others.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Exercise appropriate judgment regarding sensitive confidential matters.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working knowledge of iManage and Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and etc.)
Work independently and thrive as part of a team.
Familiarity with client and matter set ups and inter-relations of billing database structure.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer at least 5 years relevant law firm billing experience.
Working knowledge of 3E software experience preferred.
