Job Description : Choosing Our Roots (COR) is seeking to hire a Co-Director of Operations. This full-time, year-round position will work alongside the Co-Directors of Programming, as well as all COR staff and volunteers, to ensure the smooth operations of this rapidly growing grassroots nonprofit organization. The Co-Director of Operations will be responsible for guiding many areas of operations essential to agency functioning, including human resources, facilities and information management. This position will share responsibility for public relations work and will help to represent the agency in community partnerships, as well as collaborating in program evaluation and quality improvement efforts. Other key responsibilities will include collaboratively developing and overseeing agency policies, and working with the finance team to manage and report on several grants from state, federal, and private funders.The Co-Director of Operations may live in any of the regions where COR services are available (Anchorage, Mat-Su, Kenai Peninsula, or Bethel). COR offers a flexible and collaborative work environment with a deep connection to mission. As this is a new position, the successful applicant will also have the ability to help shape the role in order to best utilize their own skills and passions, while meeting COR’s critical operational needs.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: May not include all duties of this jobWork proactively with the COR staff, volunteer board, and community investors in support of developing and implementing a non-hierarchical collectivist model that aligns with emerging best practices nationally.Coordinate policy and process development around HR and other internal processes. Oversee and coordinate implementation of HR-related practices related to employee well-being, including but not limited to onboarding, the evaluation process, and employee benefits.Manage, track, and report on grants.Collaboratively and singularly represent COR in public settings, including as a mentor for youth speakers and leaders, which may include media relations, interagency collaboration, and providing agency overviews for the community.Oversee facilities and maintenance needs, including for a multi-unit dwelling in Anchorage, as well as office and storage spaces in each of the regions where COR staff are located.Ensure that proper hardware and software is in place for fundraising, collaboration, document creation and storage, communication, productivity, and record keeping.Develop and maintain professional knowledge around supporting people in a low-barrier program, theories that apply to the work, and current interventions.Collaborate with the COR Finance & Fundraising Committee to develop reports on program outcomes.Collaborate with COR collective on program evaluation and process improvement, and lead in operationalizing and tracking identified improvements.Collaborate in drafting, updating, and operationalizing a variety of internal policies, procedures, and documents related to service delivery.Ensure COR stays in compliance with all laws and regulations governing nonprofits.Manage many aspects of day-to-day operations, helping to facilitate and expedite processes in collaboration with other staff and volunteers.IDENTIFIED COMPETENCIESDemonstrated competence in reading, creating, and understanding financial documents including budgets, cash flow, income statements, balance statements, and statements of functional expensesExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailCurrent knowledge of HR best practicesFamiliarity with nonprofit operationsStrong communication skills, written and verbalCritical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyProficiency with basic office hardware and software, as well as database management and build outWeb development skills preferred, but not requiredCORE VALUESDemonstrates personal and interpersonal qualities that support the Core Values of Choosing Our Roots: Dignity & Respect, Empowerment, Cultural Relevancy, Community, and HopeESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:COR remains committed to equity in our work and communities. Individuals with lived experience of homelessness or being marginally housed and/or who identify as queer, trans, or Black/Indigenous/Person of Color are encouraged to apply.Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in related positions. Nonprofit management or operations experience preferred. Relevant experience may also include lived experience of homelessness.Education: Bachelors degree in relevant field, or equivalent experience. Relevant fields may include nonprofit management, business administration, finance, social work, etc.Other Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance according to AK State Motor Vehicle laws. Must have reliable transportation for local travel. Must be able to interpret verbal and non-verbal communication. Must have ability to process and provide feedback in a manner that is sensitive to cultural, linguistic, and psychological needs of participants, host homes, and volunteers.In order to be considered complete, an application must include a cover letter and a current resume.
