Job Description : Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent plus knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping principles and procedures acquired either through vocational or college level coursework in a financial area. Two years experience in handling and/or processing large amount of cash, or a closely related area. Must have working skill in the operation of personal computer and associated software packages.

Basic Functions
SUMMARY
Assists the Superintendent of Revenue Processing and the Parking Services Administrator by preparing and maintaining a variety of reports, correspondence, and databases related to the reporting of revenue, and the receipt and deposit of money. Monitors revenue related facilities and properties to ensure that security procedures are followed. Ensures that MARTA’s revenue has been accurately accounted for and reconciled.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fare Collection Assistant- Revenue Processing:
1. Assists the Superintendent of Revenue Processing in monitoring security precautions and in ensuring that proper collection and processing procedures are followed regarding money, tokens, and negotiable media; ensures security over Revenue Operations property and equipment.
2. Reconciles various records received from bus, rail, parking lots, vending machines and tokens daily; provides various reports to Superintendent of Revenue Processing and to other MARTA departments (i.e., Audit, Accounting).
3. Assists in administering fare processing.
4. Assists in the resolution of problems that occur at the Revenue Operations main cash handling facility.
5. Serves as backup Fare Collection Coordinator and Fare Collection Processor as needed.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Fare Collection Assistant- Parking Services:
1. Completes daily deposits, paperwork, and reports; orders change.
2. Ensures facility has sufficient change and distributes change to cashiers.
3. Ensures cashiers are following cash handling polices and procedures.
4. Monitors people entering and exiting the facility.
5. Ensures a constant line of communication within the team and with Supervisors and Management.
6. Performs facility inspection for assigned locations.
7. Monitors / maintains a variety of logs including maintenance, deposits, exception / lost tickets, and office supplies
8. Assists in training cashiers.
9. Attempts to resolve any cashier –customer conflict.
10. Assists Administrator and Supervisors in administering fare processing and Parking Services activities, which includes breaks and lunches for cashiers.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Special Requirements
This position will process CASH
Previous cash handling is required
Experience with Excel will be helpful
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Fare Collection Assistant- Revenue Processing:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
1. Must pass physical examination including drug/alcohol screen.
2. Walks or stands up to 8 hours per shift.
3. Must kneel, squat, stoop or bend to perform tasks.
4. Sits up to 2 hours per shift (including lunch and breaks).
5. Frequently (dozens of times/day) lifts and lowers token and coin bags, hoppers, etc., weighing 13-51 pounds.
6. Infrequently pushes an equipment cart weighing over 500 pounds.
7. Reaches from floor level to overhead.
8. Very frequently bends forward at the lower back to perform tasks.
