Position : Landscape and Construction Estimator
Job Description : Hui Kū Maoli Ola (HKMO) is accepting applications for a Landscape Construction Estimator of its native Hawaiian plant nursery and landscaping enterprise. Reporting directly to the General Manager (GM), the Estimator for Landscape Construction will be responsible for analyzing new construction documents, preparing the takeoffs for those designs, and preparing bids according to the specifications required. This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both residential and commercial sector works projects from.Our purpose is to build HKMO’s current and future workload with accurate bids to enable maximizing profitability through project management and final installation of projects. The Estimator will coordinate efforts for preparing bid proposals for any work HKMO elects to bid.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: This full-time position (Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.00pm) includes 8 days paid time off, benefits, and a competitive salary commensurate with experience.Health insuranceVision insuranceDental insuranceAnnual bonusPOSITION REQUIREMENTS: Thorough understanding of all landscape construction practices, requirements, equipment, and processes.Ability to read and interpret plans, specification documents, and other associated documents.Positive attitude with the ability to efficiently solve problems and resolve issues.Resourcefulness to produce budgetary estimates from schematic bid sets.Analytical skills to review subcontractor bids and vendor quotes.Ability to coordinate bidding of multiple projects simultaneously.Deadline driven – both for bidding and completion of sold projects.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent math and analytical skills.Computer proficiency – particularly with Microsoft Office.Preferable knowledge with Sketchup and Pro Landscape software.Undergraduate degree in a related landscape or construction field a plus.RESPONSIBILITIES: Thoroughly examine and understand all bid documents including landscape drawings, specifications, scope sheets, etc.Qualify requests to bid per company parameters and communicate to the team.Create and/or foster a quality culture that recognizes the effect of quality on all operations, and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers, and pleasing to our customersRequest quotes for materials needed to complete the project per scope.Communicate questions clearly to Customers and Sub-Contractors.Work with GM and Project Manager to review and produce accurate, dependable, and completed bids working within the company bid format.Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with GM to ensure accuracy and completeness.Diligently and consistently follow up on all proposals submitted.Update sales logs with notes and status of all bids submitted.Create Design-build preconstruction services to ensure high quality, competitive estimates and schedules.Be open for means and method discussions, being the catalyst to drive creative thinking and innovative ideas that distinguish a successful estimate.MEASURES OF SUCCESSDemonstrate extensive and thorough knowledge of Landscaping to win more bids.Demonstrate ability to successfully bid Landscaping projects.Demonstrate the ability to manage the Company Bid Schedule to complete jobs on time.Produce a volume of estimates with a success rate that meets the operations teams’ current goals for revenue.Other Capabilities: Stand or walk for prolonged periodsLift up to 50 pounds Bend, lift, stretch, climb and crawl to manage plants and equipmentPerform work in a variety of weather conditionsEqual Employment Opportunity: Hui Kū Maoli Ola is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.Job Types: Full-time, ContractBenefits:Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftApplication Question(s):Do you live currently in Hawaii?Experience:Construction estimating: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: One location
