Responsibilities
Conduct high quality biometric examinations in the area of friction ridge analyst; including comparison of latent fingerprint, palm prints, and footprints using ACE-V (Analyze, compare, evaluate – verify) methodology for the purpose of identifying criminals, non-criminals and questions of identity.
Process Latent Photography requests by the crime scene investigators.
Operate both state and local automated fingerprint identification systems requiring detailed image analysis to the highest degree of accuracy and completeness.
Manually compare latent print images with candidate fingerprints retrieved from AFIS in order to determine positive identification for every match found by automated system comparison.
Write technical reports on the scientific analysis of evidence for inked prints and latent print comparisons.
Obtain public fingerprinting, ten print and palm print exemplars and statistical reports.
Handle crime scene call-outs to consult on photographing, documenting and processing methods on latent evidence.
May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in crime scene investigations, fingerprint examinations, or forensic laboratory
Must obtain a Texas DPS AFIS/NEC certification within three (3) years of date of hire
IAI Latent Print certification highly preferred
A valid driver’s license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
