Job Description : GENERAL SUMMARYDiagnoses and provides automotive services by working without technical assistance to perform inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installations efficiently, safely and according to dealerships quality and time standards. Complies with dealership’s safety and environmental programs and practices. Automotive services may include, but are not limited to suspensions, alignments, steering, heating and air conditioning, basic and ABS brakes, electrical repair, and other services performed by Service Technicians.Reports To: Quick Lane Manager – Eric PattonDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Achieving High StandardsPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Suggests additional work that is needed to the Service Advisor so the customer may be notified.Completes service and repair assignments correctly to pass quality inspections or test drives.Collects all necessary information before requesting parts (e.g., model, year, etc.).Maintains sufficient personally-owned tools; keeps tools in good working order.Promotes dealership by presenting professional image, positive attitude, and clean work area.Meets or exceeds productivity and quality goals.Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Road tests vehicles to ensure repairs are completed properly.Asks for assignment if out of work or temporarily not able to complete a job.Working Effectively With OthersPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Provides assistance to Service Technicians as needed to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.Promotes a productive working relationship with others; acts as a mentor.Actively listens to concerns; takes action to respond to others’ needs.Speaks clearly, concisely, and effectively; clearly explains tasks and procedures.Has an approachable style; fosters open communication through active listening.Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Assists Service Advisors, if necessary, to explain completed repairs to a customer.Produces accurate and clear written documentation of services provided.Handling PressurePrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Listens to and supports new ideas and approaches; adapts to change quickly.Maintains composure when faced with multiple demands.Meets or exceeds flat rate time allowances.*Responsible for other duties as assigned and/or required by business need.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Handling PressureAdditional Duties and Responsibilities: Seeks challenges and embraces new responsibilities.Managing ComplexityPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Prioritizes work to meet demands and customer needs; plans work flow and procedures.Determines which tests to perform on a vehicle to identify problem.Makes decisions regarding repair options; asks for assistance as necessary.Completes repair orders within specified time frame and alerts appropriate personnel otherwise.Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Takes necessary steps to minimize time spent waiting for parts.Coordinates with Parts Department to ensure parts are available to complete repairs.Applying the BasicsPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Uses manuals including diagrams as necessary to complete the repair order.Completes time ticket according to dealership requirements.Uses computers to look up part availability and repair orders.Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Follows safety rules and regulations.Completes warranty repair orders according to dealership policy.Understanding and Using Business KnowledgePrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Performs repairs and specializes in one or more of the following areas:Routine maintenance, inspections, installations, emissions testing (where applicable), tune-ups, (repairs on starting, charging air conditioning, exhaust, and minor electrical systems).Relines and adjusts basic and ABS brakes, aligns front end, replaces parts vehicles (such as water pumps, shock absorbers, drive belts, hoses, etc.) or customer vehicles.Performs preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on dealership tools and equipment; ensures facility is clean and organized at all times.Follows all hazardous waste and OSHA safety regulations and company policies.Performs factory warranty repairs according to established procedures.Diagnoses vehicles using the appropriate tools, equipment and resources.Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Utilizes Ford-provided technical assistance (e.g., Technical Support Systems Guide, Hotlines, OASIS, SBDS, other).Stays up to date on the latest technical services through training, bulletins, campaigns, etc.Obtains all necessary certifications.*Responsible for other duties as assigned and/or required by business need.SKILL REQUIREMENTSSkills required to perform principal/additional duties and responsibilities: Achieving High Standards focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction, getting results, displaying professionalism, and maintaining awareness of details.
