Job Description : Planner – (220000BE)
Hillsborough County requires all applicants scheduled to attend an on-boarding session on or after August 30, 2021 to show proof of final vaccination shot, or provide a religious or medical exemption, before their employment can begin. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine based on a medical or sincerely held religious belief may be subject to weekly COVID or monthly antibody testing.
Job Overview
Researches and analyzes information to write reports supporting the development, evaluation, monitoring and implementation of comprehensive studies, plans, programs, and land development regulations. This position will provide technical support in the form of analysis and research to support these responsbilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Urban or Community Planning; or
An equivalent combination of education (not less than a four year degree in Urban/Community Planning), training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job related competencies noted below.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collects, summarizes, analyzes, and presents facts and trends for use in evaluating land development proposals and community growth and development plans, studies and reports. Create graphics using software like SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGis to analyze and illustrate complex urban planning concepts.
Conducts studies and extracts information to be used in reports relating to land use, economic bases, transportation systems, utility systems, community facilities, population housing, community, and neighborhood plans and programs.
Assist in writing drafts of future land use, transportation, community facility, and other comprehensive plan policies.
Summarizes, analyzes, and presents data for use in the development of plans, programs, and presentations.
Performs other related duties as required.

Work Category/Physical Demands
This position typically takes place in an office environment.
Requires sitting for an extended period of time.

Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
