Our work depends on a Health Communications Specialist joining our team to support the Joint Information Center (JIC) for CDC’s COVID-19 response.
At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Health Communications Specialist supporting CDC, you will be trusted to create, edit, and review health communication materials primarily for internal audiences and organizational engagement.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Responding to requests from JIC leadership and collaborating with other multi-disciplinary teams
Facilitating the development of communication materials tailored for specific audiences and using plain language
Identifying gaps in existing communication resources and developing solutions
Completing weekly and monthly reporting requirements
Your success will be measured through feedback from JIC
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Bachelors degree in a related field such as: Communications (journalism, advertising, public relations) or Public Health. Master’s degree preferred.
At least five years of related experience
Strong proofreading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work within short turnaround times and prioritize tasks
Experience with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (DEIA) /health equity
Understanding of basic risk communication principles (giving clear and simple communication during an emergency, providing actionable information)
Previous CDC and or public health experience highly desirable
