Job Description : Under the direction of the Corporate Security Director, is responsible for the supervising of staff assigned to the investigative function and for assuring the complete investigation of all security related incidents arising at Bank of Hawaii and its subsidiaries. May act in the temporary capacity of the Director of Security, in his/her absence. Additionally, directs the development and delivery of all security training material and periodically represents Bank of Hawaii in criminal litigation matters. Ensures business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

Supervises Security Investigators and/or Coordinators and manages the conduct of investigations into all security related incidents including file review, compliance testing and the oversight of regulatory Suspicious Activity Report processes. Responsible for the management of all employees in the investigative function of the department including staffing, scheduling, compensation, performance management, training and development, succession planning and affirmative action to effectively utilize group and individual capabilities and enhance individual/group development and performance. Responsible for the timely and effective management of Human Resources forms and documents relevant to immediate staff.

Coordinates the identification of crime encouraging conditions and considers remedies proposed by others, contributing to the prevention and recovery of losses involving fraudulent acts against Bank of Hawaii. Responsible for compliance-related activities as it pertains to Bank Protection Act and Bank Secrecy Act.

Directs the development and delivery of security training resources for Security Investigators and Coordinators, employee and community groups; promotes security awareness and understanding of prevalent fraud schemes.

Recommends and coordinates acquisition of technology resources assigned to unit staff to assure the ability to completely and thoroughly document all matters under review.

Represents the Corporate Security Department on select Bank of Hawaii functional committees and task forces and is the designated alternate for the Director of Corporate Security where required.

Manages relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Follows up on subpoenas and provides court testimony on behalf of Bank of Hawaii.

Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in related field (e.g., criminology) from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE: Level is dependent on years of experience and size/complexity of prior positions held.

Level I: Minimum of 3 years investigation or related experience is required, with at least 1 year of experience in handling complex financial fraud matters.

Level II: Minimum of 5 years investigation and related supervision experience is required, with at least 2 years of experience in handling complex financial fraud matters.

Level III: Minimum of 8 years investigation and related supervision experience is required, with at least 3 years of experience in handling complex financial fraud matters within a financial institution environment. At least 1 year of supervisory/management responsibilities.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. Ability to operate investigation case management programs or their equivalent.

OTHER JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Must be analytical, detail oriented, organized. Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Skills or certification in preparing and delivering educational and informational presentations. Working knowledge of banking and financial operations. Must have the ability to traverse stairs in an emergency and be able to lift 25 lbs (i.e. fire extinguisher) and also have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license, and ability to commute and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner and/or as required. Must be able to acquire a valid passport and be able to travel domestically as well as internationally by air as required. Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
