You find positivity in shared successes.You thrive in innovative environments, are comfortable with ambiguity, and welcome iterative, student-centered design processes and challenges.You are committed to continuous improvement, see feedback as a positive, and have a growth mindset.You use data to track and provide updates on student achievement to students, staff, and family.You are a leader, actively participating in collaborative planning and weekly data-driven meetings focused on instruction and student achievement.You are committed to the emotional and physical safety of staff and students and to a culture of relevant and rigorous learning.WHAT YOU’LL DOThe Student Success & Culture Coordinator at Why Not You Academy is a vital member of school leadership teams, collaborating on a systematic approach to school culture, student outcomes, staff development & satisfaction, family/community partnerships, and academic interventions for all students, at all tiers. Key functions include, but are not limited to:AcademicsSupport the School Leadership Team in ensuring fidelity to WNYA instructional modelCo-lead staff professional development and coach staff to meet their growth goals and student outcomesRegularly consider data to inform action planningLead on assessment calendaring, culture, and fidelityCo-facilitate the school’s MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Supports) and SST(Student Support Team) meetings, including participation in IEP and 504 meetings as the Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative.School CultureSupport the implementation and execution of a culture system that holds all student to high expectations, promotes belonging, and uses restorative practices to address behaviorsSupport the School Leadership Team on school culture events and celebrationsOversee development of school site culture calendar, log all events on reporting toolEnsures successful implementation of Student Engagement system to create an optimistic culture (PBIS)Support student check-in’s and ensure students are on track to reach their goals.Build authentic relationships with students and families; consistently reinforce the belief that all students have the capacity to be successfulEnsures successful implementation of Student Engagement system to ensure an optimistic culture of high expectations, including but not limited to:Analyzing student engagement and culture data Assisting with training of staff, students, families Processing students sent out of class Running detention Managing the Culture Calendar Provide push-in behavioral support for students and teachers as neededOversee school restorative practices and discipline Responding to classroom referrals in a timely way. Holding restorative student intervention sessions. Holding restorative family intervention meetings. Communicating discipline cases and outcomes with stakeholders. Holding students accountable to disciplinary consequences and next steps. Collecting and tracking discipline data to identify students of concern. Collaborating with the school leaders and network strategic partners in cases of escalated disciplinary infractions* Student Culture* Collaborate daily with school leadership and mental health partners to assess, develop, and implement school-wide initiatives to address a positive school climate and a culture inclusive of all students, staff, and families.Oversee after school programming, including clubs/activities, and collaborate with CEO in the launch and oversight of WNYA athletics program Staff Culture*Support School Leadership Team in attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talentParticipate in the planning and delivery of pre-service professional development for onboarding staff in the culture, systems, and routines of theWhy Not You Academy and the development of professional and organizational goals.Observe, coach, and evaluate staff on their individual professional development and job performance Family & Community*Ensure all staff create an environment where parents feel welcome on campusCollaborate with staff to ensure programs and processes are in place to help families be full participants in the success of their studentsMeet with families as necessary regarding student progress, discipline, or other issuesEstablish and maintain community partnershipsCollaborate with the School Leadership Team to create parent outreach programs and facilitate the development of new parent outreach systems that result in increased parent involvement Other Duties*Participate in events, including beyond school hours, aimed at promoting or developing WNYAEnsure classroom coverage during absencesServe as LEA administrative representative at IEP meetings as requested by the principal.Ensure 504 complianceWHAT YOU NEED4+ years of experience teaching and/or leadership experience at the secondary levelA strong understanding of learning science, culturally responsive pedagogy, and restorative practicesProven track record of success leading adults and a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and new forms of educationCommitment to uphold Why Not You Academy’s belief that all students should expect and demand a challenging and relevant course of learning that prepares them for success in college, career, and civic lifeCommitment to antiracism, diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice (with experience teaching in diverse classrooms and school settings, or serving underrepresented student populations, preferred)Extremely effective and efficient organization, time-management, and communication skillsExperience in an entrepreneurial environmentBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, master’s degree preferredValid Teaching Certificate in the State of Washington requiredValid Administrative Certificate in the State of Washington preferred but not requiredA clear health and background checkBilingual in Spanish or other strongly preferredWHAT YOU GETWe are committed to continuous improvement and professional growth.
