Transplant Coordinator Assistant (Remote)
Summary:
There are two different sides to being a Transplant Coordinator Assistant. One part of this job deals with calling patients who are on a waiting list for an organ transplant. These patients can sometimes wait for years before they receive the Gift of Life and get their transplant. Your job is to stay in touch with them while they are waiting. You don’t need any specialized medical training – we’ll provide you what you need. You just need patience, a little tenacity (at times) and a genuine love of helping people. You’ll pick up the phone and call the patients on a hospital’s waiting list on a regular basis. You check in with them – “How are you doing? Is your phone number still the same? Do you still have the same health insurance company? Have you had any issues with your health since we last spoke?” Then you will document the call in an electronic database. You’ll work closely with the patient’s nurse at the hospital to provide him/her with any updates that the patient gives you.

The other part of being a Transplant Coordinator Assistant deals heavily with data entry. You will log in to a hospital’s database to retrieve information about patients that have been transplanted. Then you will take that information and enter it into a national registry website. Many times this information is either missing or hard to find, so this will require making some phone calls to track down information. You will have to search through the information in the hospital database to determine the relevant data. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential for this task.
Responsibilities:
Call patients on a regular basis and documenting answers to a set of standard questions in a database
Check in with nurses regularly
Document professionally, accurately and completely
Follow a written protocol of instructions for each task carefully and accurately
Check and respond to email and assigned items in a timely fashion
Find information in a hospital database and enter accurately into a national registry
Call medical providers to gather information
Attend regularly scheduled conference calls
Attend quarterly onsite, in-person training
Be available for supervisor home visits and training
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a hospital or clinical environment is highly preferred, but not required
Reside in San Antonio, TX or surrounding cities is ideal. Open to candidates out of state
Must be available to work Monday through Friday during normal business hours
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organized, self-driven, and motivated
Impeccable attention to detail
Self-starter with strong time management skills
Proficient in the use of technology in an office environment
Ability to learn new software programs and databases independently
Connected to and responsive to communication with management and staff members
