Job Description : We are searching for two motivated Full-Time Adoptions Counselors. Join our team at Jacksonville Humane Society! We are dedicated to providing care, comfort, and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands, and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals. Starting Pay: $12.00 per hour and increases based upon experience and skill level.
Shifts: 12 pm – 8 pm weekdays & 9 am – 6 pm weekends. Weekend days required. Open holidays & availability is typically required. Must be available to work during our customer-friendly hours.
A day in the life of an Adoption Counselor:
At JHS, our adoption team uses a dynamic, open adoption process that removes barriers to adoption. We have different assigned duties each day, along with matching families with a new pet. We help each other with the front desk, welcome the public, and clean/prep for the next day. Our team assists with offsite cat transports to PetSmart for our adoption events. We have two programs, sleepover & stay-cations, where families can bring a pet home to see if they are a good fit. Once the pets are back at the shelter, we follow up on how the visit went. JHS is open 12 pm – 7 pm on weekdays and 10 am – 5 pm on weekends, so the bulk of the day will be speaking to the public and helping customers find their new best friend (including pet-to-pet introductions). We learn and grow through teamwork and help abandoned and orphaned shelter pets find a loving home.
