Position : Communications Specialist

Job Description : The Communication Specialist is responsible for generating and proofing innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively with business owners within the organization. The Communication Specialist researches products, services, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by the target audience. In addition, the Communication Specialist is responsible for gathering, tracking, and documenting project requirements and timelines.Essential Duties and Responsibilities· Work closely with the Communications team and business owners to ensure project requirements are captured and documented accurately.· Conduct the necessary research on any given project or content request.· Collaborate with vendors, branding experts, front-end developers, marketing, content, and other professionals to create original material content such as headlines, cutlines, captions, and generic communications.· Produce written content in an easy-to-understand and logical manner for the target audience while being mindful of details like flow, readability, and sentence variety.· Proofread written content for accuracy and quality and corrected copies or proofs to ensure that all corrections have been made.· Revise content as needed when business owners provide feedback or request changes.· Ensure all content promotes a positive public image of our company.· In collaboration with the Product Manager, assist in implementing and maintaining effective and efficient marketing and member communications programs for pre-enrollment and post-enrollment required materials.· Maintain project plans & tools that deliver & execute the required member marketing and communications material plans in a timely fashion within budget; monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed.· Organize meetings with fulfillment vendors and business owners to manage various communication project plans.· Adhere to and maintain a working knowledge of departmental policies & procedures, CMS, Federal, State, HIPAA, and NCQA requirements to ensure pieces are created in accordance with all noted guidelines.· Exhibit flexibility to shift priorities and handle multiple tasks to complete work under fluctuating deadlines.· Maintains strict confidentiality of all sensitive information.· Achieves and maintains acceptable performance levels according to the Communications and Quality standards.· Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.CompetenciesTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:· Analytical – Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data.· Design – Demonstrates attention to detail.· Problem Solving – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem-solving situations.· Customer Service – Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.· Interpersonal Skills – Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things.· Oral Communication – Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.· Written Communication – Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.· Teamwork – Partners with cross-functional departments; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; Gives and welcomes feedback.· Cost Consciousness – Works within approved budget; Contributes to profits and revenue; Conserves organizational resources.· Diversity – Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.· Ethics – Treats people with respect; Keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values.· Judgment – Supports and explains the reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in the decision-making process.· Motivation – Sets and achieves challenging goals; Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles; Measures self against standard of excellence.· Planning/Organizing – Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives· Professionalism – Tactfully approaches others; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.· Quality – Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.· Quantity – Completes work in a timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
