Job Description : POSITION TITLE:

Fine Arts Coordinator, K-12

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Executive Director of Academic Achievement

JOB CLASSIFICATION:

Certified Position: 205 day position

FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Fine Arts Coordinator provides leadership in the instruction, organization, development, planning and assessment of curriculum as it relates to K-12 fine and performing arts education.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with the Academic Achievement staff to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive instructional program; manages content development, online resources and documentation for fine and performing arts programs; and guides the implementation of the content standards and learning engagement.
Leads the district in writing minimum/essential benchmarks and standards for the fine and performing arts curriculum including assessments to determine student learning outcomes.
Instrumental in selecting instructional materials, supplies, textbooks, technology and equipment needed to support the implementation of the fine and performing arts curriculum.
Assists in the development and production of fine arts face-to-face and digital professional learning modules.
Develops agendas and supports professional collaboration that focuses on the development of fine and performing arts curriculum.
Models effective fine and performing arts teaching strategies.
Observes instruction and provides feedback to teachers and building administration to guide and support the implementation of a strong instructional program.
Leads the recruitment and review of fine and performing arts applicants and provides guidance for local administrators regarding candidate selection.
Leads special programs in K-12 fine and performing arts and provides district representation in metro-Atlanta, statewide and national events.
Collaborates with the community, other stakeholders and post-secondary institutions for the benefit of students and in support of fine and performing arts programs.
Facilitates professional learning for fine arts teachers.
Advises on educational specifications for K-12 fine and performing arts facilities; recommends appropriate modifications to the curriculum.
Develops and manages assigned SPLOST and grant budgets and programs.
Seeks out and helps attain grant and other funding to support fine and performing arts programs.
Supports all students’ access to enriched opportunities in the arts.
Coordinates marketing and promotional materials for fine and performing arts programs across schools.
Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Master’s degree in the Arts or Education

Eligibility for Georgia certification in educational leadership

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience teaching in the music, theater, dance or fine arts field

Three (3) years of supervisory experience at the district or building leadership level preferred

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Must have strong undergraduate aptitude in performing arts and/or fine arts
Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnel
Good decision-making and problem solving skills
Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives
Working knowledge of standards-based instruction and assessment
Ability to identify and articulate best practices in curriculum and instruction
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Collaborator with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
Knowledgeable with technology and how to leverage it to share, lead and communicate
