Position : Criminal Intelligence Analyst
Job Description : The Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions supports an innovative and flexible workplace by offering work from home as an alternative work schedule arrangement whereby an employee is approved to work at home for part of that employee’s regular workweek. Most DIFI employees do not have an assigned physical workspace or work location and will work from home a majority of the time and only come into the office as needed.
Under general supervision performs case analysis including detailed research of criminal intelligence information related to Automobile Theft and Insurance Fraud. Work involves analyzing data, writing comprehensive reports, and developing associations between suspects and crime groups or patterns of criminal activity. This position requires building relationships and working closely with other law enforcement agencies to detect patterns of crime or crime groups. This person will be responsible for reviewing all incoming fraud referrals for solvability, priority and determining if it has met the standards for a fraud investigation. Prepares reports for the division command staff.
Job Duties:
Research, analyze, evaluate and correlate complex criminal intelligence information to determine source reliability, content validity; develop investigative leads; and distinguish patterns/trends.
Organize and maintain sensitive, non-sensitive and open source case data and/or files into logical, concise and understandable order for retrieval if further analysis is needed. Identifies trends and repeat offenders.
Evaluate incoming fraud referrals for solvability, priority and determine if it has met the standards of the DIFI Fraud Investigations Division. Determine what is needed for the incident to be a viable investigation, with the foreknowledge of what comprises a prosecutable case.
Gather and compile criminal intelligence information and statistics to generate intelligence data for support in investigations through personal contact (e.g., interviews, discussions, etc.); manipulation and query of database systems; and reading and recording various intelligence, analytical and administrative information.
Prepare and present detailed graphics and briefings to share organized facts, statistics and criminal intelligence analysis with case investigators, prosecutors and other law enforcement agencies.
Assess or determine intelligence information requirements or needs in order to recommend, plan, prioritize and implement collection plans, targets or case strategies. Create, prepare and review various intelligence documents to disseminate information.
Participate in multi-agency task forces, assist outside agencies to provide analytical support, disseminate intelligence and share information.
Enter data, reports, or records of criminal intelligence information into a database for use and reference by analysts and investigators in support of investigations. Assist in the coordination of major case investigations.

Selective Preference(s):
Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with three (3) years experience with criminal justice, investigations, military or government intelligence agency or criminal intelligence network organization; or five (5) years experience without a degree.Certification as a CICA, CCIA or CLEA is desirable.Law Enforcement Background is preferred.
