7 17 is seeking a Full Time UNIX/DBA Administrator to join our growing team.
Primary Duties of the UNIX/DBA Administrator:
Work with the Core Systems Administrator to manage and optimize in-house computer software systems, primarily the Core Processing systems. Manage core databases. Participate in planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fully comply with all information security procedures set forth by SSCU to protect the members’ information.
Maintain knowledge of regulations appropriate for position (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, etc.), and attend all training for job related regulations. Adhere to SSCU’s security procedures and safeguard member information.
Strategy and Planning
Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for core systems and databases in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
Assist with the development and implementation of a Data Strategy roadmap to provide data analytics for the credit union.
Acquisition and Deployment
Keep core processor systems current for both the operating systems and application levels, as feasible and practical.
Operational Management
Assist in the management of operating systems and databases associated with the core processing environment.
Install and maintain the performance of core databases.
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
Perform and monitor core system backups.
Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on the core processor servers across multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.
Support the I.T. Operations group and other lines of business as needed for reporting or application performance.
Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance throughout the core processing environment and across the networked architecture.
Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of core processor systems software procurement and development efforts.
Be available for on-call support as needed.
Prerequisite Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in Computers, Technology, or related field.
Prerequisite Experience:
Working technical knowledge of:
Network, PC, and platform operating systems, including HP/UX, Unix, Linux or other Unix-based operating systems.
Current systems software, protocols, and standards, including firewalls, Active Directory, and Unix-based applications.
Database Administration including managing updates, performance tuning. DB2, Oracle and SQLServer preferred.
Extensive application support experience.
Strong command of SQL, SQL tools and stored procedures.
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery.
Experience with:
Documenting and maintaining configuration and process information; and
Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting.
Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as needed.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
Excellent written, oral communication and documentation skills.
Other requirements of the position:
Exceptional customer service orientation, and take responsibility as a guardian of the Credit Union’s computer hardware/software, computer information and programs and other computer related security.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
Ability to conduct research into a wide range of topics, and present ideas in user-friendly language.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Must be able to occasionally work non-standard hours.
