Job Description : Job SummaryBurrtec Waste & Recycling Services is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving various municipalities throughout Southern California. Burrtec continues to grow through co. acquisitions and successful bid proposals. Burrtec is a family owned company that firmly believes the key element to our success is knowing how important each employee is in the organization. We have the following position at our Palm Desert divisions: DRIVER TRAINEEManually collects material from containers and loads into the truck on a designated route. Pushes out commercial containers to truck from enclosuresESSENTIAL DUTIES: Will train to drive refuse truck and transport refuse to dump site.Exit and enter truck on a continuous basisPerform manual collection tasks by lifting barrels from curbside and dumping to the truckPush commercial containers from enclosures out to truckComplete pre and post trip inspection with assigned trainerWill maintain good customer relations.Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle at all times.Must drive in a safe manner, considering road conditions at all times while trainingMust comply with the laws of the road at all times.Must be able to maneuver truck on small streets and on uneven terrain when training behind the wheelPerforms other duties as assigned by supervisorThe duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list; additional tasks may be assigned; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have a valid Class “C”. “B” or “A” Commercial Driver License/permit preferred.This position requires the review of motor vehicle records (MVRs) prior to or during consideration of application as well as ongoing review through California’s Electronic Pull Notice (EPN) ProgramMust be able to communicate in English and have the ability to understand and complete route sheets.Must have ability to follow instructionsTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Experience working in extreme outdoor weather conditions as a laborerOperating of heavy machinery preferredPHYSICAL: Must have ability to continuously up to 70 lbs.Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.Must be able to climb in and out of the truck cab frequently.Must be able to walk for prolonged periods of timeWe offer competitive wages and an excellent benefits package including 401k and 100% paid medical/dental/life insurance and holidays/vacation/PSLJob Type: Full-timePay: From $23.15 per hourBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:OvertimeExperience:Commercial Driving: 1 year (Preferred)Driving: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: One location
