Position : Emergency Management Specialist
Job Description : THE POSITION
The PA Emergency Management Agency is looking for a motivated and self-starting individual to work as part of the Training and Exercise Division team. This individual will support training-related projects, including conversion of courses to computer-based learning modules, as well as support the exercise program.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position reports directly to the Division Emergency Management Supervisor. The person in this position must be able to effectively function in a team environment. This position is primarily responsible to develop and revise basic and/or in-service emergency management training programs and curricula in response to program requirements and identified needs.
Assist with the development of exercises that practice the policies and procedures for the prevention, protection, and mitigation of; preparation for; and response to all threats and hazards for all people that live and work in Pennsylvania. Develop and implement criteria and techniques to evaluate statewide emergency management training needs and effectiveness of current and proposed curricula.
Responsible for completing mandatory FEMA Independent Study Courses as requested.
NOTATION OF SCHEDULE: Employee may be required to work 12-hour shifts. Employees may have their work schedules changed to five consecutive days within a seven-day period based on customer/assignment needs. Employee’s work hours may be modified based on customer/assignment needs. Except for emergencies, changes to schedules and work hours will be provided at least two weeks in advance.
EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT
This position is considered essential.
Performs a task to be assigned during periods of emergencies. Such tasks may differ from normal day-to- day routine. These emergency assignments are at times received with little or no advance notice and may last for any period of time ranging from a few hours to several weeks or more, depending on the nature of the circumstance. The emergency assignments are sometimes performed under adverse (less than favorable) conditions and may require travel to a disaster site for short or extended periods of time. This position performs operational assignments as required during actual emergencies. Position may serve in the Commonwealth Response Coordination Center and must be available to work outside of the normal work hours, to include weekends and overnights, when activated.

Work Hours and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch period.
Irregular schedule during activation.
Will be required to serve in the CRCC during activations; including possible nights and weekends.

You may be eligible for the opportunity to work from home (telework) up to 2 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements – Two years of experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency-related programs such as disaster relief, public safety, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military; and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training
