ABOUT THE POSITION
Join a dedicated team of IT Help Desk professionals who keep technology operational for over 20 unique County government departments and gain direct experience while supporting public sector IT needs. As the entry and journey level of the engineering series, this position reports to the IT Manager for Customer Support. The Help Desk Technical Support position applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills in their duties. Additionally, this team member will:
Resolve employees’ technical issues by providing direct support remotely, at various sites, or by clear written instruction.
Manage and assist in the deployment and maintenance of technology to disaster service workers (DSW’s) and County sites and facilities.
Image and prepare computers according to each user’s unique environment using SCCM, CloneZilla, MDT, or similar tools.
Perform hardware and software system configuration, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting of workstations, laptops, mobile devices and printers.
Troubleshoot Audio/Video for conference rooms.
Perform IT onboarding and offboarding tasks, such as creating and managing user accounts, groups, permissions and licenses and following security policies and procedures to ensure ongoing security compliance.
Research existing and emerging hardware solutions that meet performance and budgetary requirements; formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policy and standards.
Provide support or deliver and setup hardware.
Perform other related duties as apply.
This assignment requires the ability to lift 25 lbs. The work for this position is performed onsite at County facilities on a full-time basis. Hybrid telework/onsite schedules may be discussed at a later time when appropriate.
Current Vacancy: There is currently one (1) vacancy for Help Desk Technical Support (Systems Engineer) on the Help Desk team.

This candidate contributes to harmonious and constructive working relationships with team members and other staff members to promote a positive and productive atmosphere.
Experience with the following is essential for this position:
Help desk
Troubleshooting personal computers
Remote assistance tools
Active Directory
Windows 10
Prior experience in government sector, familiarity with Office 365 applications including Outlook and Teams, Imaging, PowerShell, developing written instruction and in-person training, and Audio-Video experience are highly desirable.

Any two-year combination of professional experience, certification, and/or relevant coursework that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. Examples include:
Twelve (12) semester units of coursework from an accredited program and in a discipline relevant to the assignment is equivalent to a full year of related professional experience.
A completed certification program relevant to the assignment and knowledge and abilities necessary of the role.
A training program with evidence of completion providing the knowledge and abilities necessary of the role.
An internship and/or apprenticeship providing the required knowledge and abilities of the role.
Relevant professional experience demonstrating knowledge and abilities necessary of the role.

Masks are not required for employees that are fully vaccinated, however the County strongly recommends employees who are vaccinated continue to wear face coverings in all indoor office settings for the safety of our employees, visitors, and residents.
Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
