Job Description : The County of Yolo is conducting a recruitment on behalf of the Yolo County Law Library for one Library Assistant position. This is an at-will, part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week), and the candidate selected will be under the direction of the Yolo Count Law Library Director and Board of Trustees. The hourly salary range is $16-$20 per hour. Salary placement is negotiable, and will be decided based on background and experience.Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Public ServicesExplain and enforce library policies pertaining to patron conduct.Explains circulation policies and procedures to borrowers.Under the guidance of the Library Director, provides reference assistance with library materials and resources and assists with online research services.Directs patrons who cannot resolve their issues to other libraries or organizationsTechnical ServicesCollection Development: Collaborates with library staff and Board of Trustees to maintain existing collection and monitor information use and needs of patrons.Processing: Barcodes, labels and shelves library materials.Maintenance and inventory: Keeps facilities orderly and clean. Monitors facility and equipment for necessary repairs or modifications and maintains inventory of library (including furniture and equipment) in collaboration with other library staff.Orders and receives library books and supplies; assists with invoice tracking and payment.Public Relations and Professional DevelopmentEstablishes and maintains good working relationships with Law Library staff and patrons, County personnel, Yolo County Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern California, and other librarians.Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Trustees.Employment StandardsEducation: Successful completion of high school (or GED certificate), and two (2) years of college or equivalent training.Experience: Two years clerical experience, preferably in a library, law library, or legal clerical field.Technology capabilities: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Office, and Excel). Skilled in using online research databases and tools (or ability to learn).
