Job Description : Overview
Leader Creek Fisheries is hiring a Maintenance Technician for our 2022 Sockeye Salmon Season in Naknek, Alaska. This individual must be available April-August and be willing to relocate to Naknek, Alaska during those months. Additionally, keep in mind that the hours are long: 13-16 hour shifts, 7 days a week for the duration of the season. This individual will maintain and repair fish processing equipment such as food grade conveyors, processing pumps, grinders and a variety of salmon processing equipment.
Leader Creek Fisheries is a producer of wild Alaskan sockeye salmon products in Naknek, AK. Our all-refrigerated fishing fleet was the first of its kind in Bristol Bay and will forever be one of the cornerstones of our quality-focused operation. We specialize in producing premium fresh-frozen, boneless fillets, and every summer we invite approximately 400 highly motivated, hard working men and women from across the country to come work at our shoreside plant and be a part of the Leader Creek family. Work Environment and Physical Demands
The Maintenance Technician position must be able to stand, walk and work for up to 16 hours per day, 7 days a week during our peak season (June-July). Shoulder season hours range from 12-13 hours per day, 7 days a week (April-May, August). The Technician will be exposed to wet and cold conditions within the plant and must be willing to push through fatigue. The Technician will be required to relocate to Naknek, Alaska during the Sockeye Salmon Season and will be provided lodging, meals and laundry service while employed. Leader Creek Fisheries will also provide flights to and from point of hire.
Responsibilities
Prepares equipment for use prior to season
Operates and maintains machinery and equipment
Repairs defective parts
Perform minor building, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs
Implement preventative maintenance measures
Maintain inventory of supplies and machine shop
Perform other Maintenance duties as requested
Prioritize safety, follow safety procedures and report safety concerns
Identify errors in operating equipment and communicate concerns to Production personnel
Continually maintain machinery to prevent production stops (lubrication of parts, cleaning of equipment)
Operates drill press, grinder, saws, sockets, screwdrivers, power drills, wrenches, measuring devices and other hand tools
Qualifications
Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.
Have valid Driver’s License
Able to work with minimal supervision
Able to take direction and implement feedback
Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Able to stand, walk and work for up to 16 hours, 7 days a week
Attentive to detail
General knowledge of mechanical field and skills (hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, fabricating, building winterizing and maintenance, etc.)
Experience
Seafood Processing Industry (Preferred)
Multiple mechanical skills: 3 Years (Preferred)
Welding and Fabricating (Preferred)
Pay
Pay is commensurate with experience.
