Description:Determines release for procurement of critical or not readily available parts and materials for engineering projects, and advises engineering personnel of material availability.

Analyzes the bill of materials on engineering drawings for correct call-outs and adherence to material standard memos, notifies engineering personnel of any materials standards or process changes that might affect the design, and determines for one or more engineering projects in the design stages, the critical or not readily available material and parts for manufacturing. Initiates advance engineering material orders to facilitate on-time receipt of material.

Interacts with others to obtain information on substitution of materials, procurement time, material needs for experimental and production projects or design changes, and notifies others as applicable.

Determines in coordination with others, whether to make or buy drawing numbered parts. Reviews engineering drawings and design information for procurement, to ascertain whether company or vendor has design responsibility and record on Make or Buy Decision form.

Investigates availability of material and parts for contemplated design changes. Makes commitments as to availability of material and coordinates with affected departments to establish affected point of change.

Handles vendor requests for change, planning and ordering materials for mockups and special test, and investigates shop material usage. Purchases new perishable tools (i.e.; drills, reamers, etc.). Assists with orders and re-orders of perishable items, using databases and software systems.

Establishes and maintains item related data within applicable systems. Reviews and orders identified purchase requests within applicable systems.

Coordinates with others to confirm that promised delivery dates meet commitment schedules.

Prepares on-call orders for raw materials, steel and aluminum plate, angle, channel, bar, beam, tubing, expendable tools, etc. for fixture build-ups and assorted test projects. Receives and signs-off on packing sheets and/or invoices for these materials from vendors. Coordinates with others for the un-loading of material and delivery to the end-user.

Initiates and coordinates requests for non-production materials. Takes receipt of orders received and coordinates delivery of such items to the original requestor.

Authorizes work on “on-call” contracts and prepares billing for approval, as directed.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with Supply Chain Inventory Management and Distribution Methods.
Experience with Inventory Management of Perishable Tools, Kitting, Warehouse and Material Handling.
Desired Skills:
Working knowledge of SAP, Crib Master, MRP, POIS along with previous Aeronautical experience.Strong communication skillsMS Project, MS Excel and MS Word
