Job Description
The Materials Physics group in the Materials and Chemical Science and Technology directorate has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in electrical transport of topological semimetal materials. The Materials Physics group conducts basic and applied research on semiconductor and topological materials for energy-related applications.This position is to conduct magneto-transport measurements on topological semimetals and semiconductors.
The individual is primarily responsible for carrying out projects related to understanding the impact of electrical doping, alloying and structural defects on topological semimetal thin films, including Cd3As2, through magneto-transport measurements. Opportunities are available to write proposals to use US-based user facilities for these measurements. Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at national scientific meetings is required.

Basic Qualifications
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Additional Required Qualifications
The individual must have prior experience in conducting basic scientific research on topological semimetals. In-depth knowledge of magneto-transport characterization is required. Experience in maintaining transport equipment, analyzing magneto-transport results and designing new experiments is also necessary. The individual must have strong scientific writing and interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team. A background in the magneto-transport characterization of topological semimetals is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Annual Salary Range: $69,400 – $114,500
Offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
