The YSC will mentor and help students with educational, volunteer, and career opportunities. In collaboration with other departments the YSC will recruit, manage, and coordinate volunteers for after school programming and youth activities.Essential FunctionsComplete initial intake with student(s) and parent(s) to assess needs, strengths, barriers, and determine resources that could positively affect educational growth and personal successUtilize the student’s school schedule, progress and/or report card to aid in determining resources that will provide the most helpConnect youth to community-based programs that provide educational, internship, and civic opportunities, art, sports and other extra-curricular programsDevelop and maintain relationships with local area businesses and educational resources that will offer opportunities for apprenticeship, mentorship, internship and/or employmentServe as a member of a wrap-around team providing services to the familyParticipate in staff meeting with case managers to discuss family and student progressEstablish relationships with local middle and high school teachers and administrators to form a support networkMonitor school progress, serve as a liaison, and advocate between school staff, student, and parent and/or guardianCoordinate and manage volunteers to facilitate afterschool study hall/tutoring sessionsDiscuss collegiate goals and career aspirations with student, review college choices, and provide guidance and assistance with the college application and financial aid processMaintain a case management file for each student that includes report cards, college applications, internship letters, employment status, disciplinary issues, etc.Maintain a minimum caseload of 25 studentsCoordinate volunteer activities, backgrounds, and requirements with the appropriate department directorsAll other duties as assignedTraining and Development: Complete required training for program and agencyDiscuss with supervisor other trainings that would beneficial for your personal development and to further the mission of the agencyAttend all internal team and staff meetingsKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology or closely related fieldMinimum two (2) years’ professional experience working with youthKnowledge of Palm Beach County Resources, social services, and educational/career opportunitiesKnowledge of the needs of homeless and low-income familiesAbility to recruit, train, manage, and oversee volunteersFamiliarity with Palm Beach County School District a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHigh proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Exceptional computer skills and the ability to learn new applications quicklyAbility to be flexible with scheduleFluency in Spanish (written and spoken) is preferredAble to work weekend and evening hoursWorking ConditionsStandard office environmentSome travel to schools, meetings, and eventsProlonged sitting at the computerPhysical RequirementsAbility to bend and lift over your headAbility to lift a minimum of 25 poundsAbility to walk distancesAbility to drive and be insuredJob Type: Full-timePay: $40,000.00 – $45,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountFlexible scheduleFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offTuition reimbursementVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayEducation:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:youth education/mentorship: 2 years (Preferred)Work Location: One location
