Job Description : The Apprentice Program provides funding for a fixed-term position that typically extends for one calendar year to a Shareholder. There is no guarantee of employment upon completion of the Apprenticeship. The goal is to provide intensive, on-the-job training for a highly motivated Shareholder in a pre-mid-level position with Afognak Native Corporation, Alutiiq, LLC, or one of their subsidiaries.
You MUST be a voting Afognak Native Corporation Shareholder or the Spouse of one to qualify for Apprentice positions. This Position is available in Anchorage, Alaska.
Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
The scope of this position includes responsibility for the following Information Governance activities:
Assist with the management and maintenance of the Records Management program using best practices and Information Governance principles.
Understand the importance of maintaining a records retention schedule and associated policies.
Support the Implementation and enforcement of records retention policies and procedures.
Recommend improvements as appropriate.
Assist with the Production of periodic reports demonstrating IG program performance and progress.
Identify non-compliance to the IG and Records and Information Management (RIM) program.
Work with department and subsidiary leadership to administer standard policy and program compliance.
Inventory, identify and dispose of obsolete records.
Assist Records Manager with staff acquisition integration, moves or closures by assisting migrations and transfer of records.
Proactively and positively communicate with end users and lines of business via email, phone, and visits, and attend follow-up meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Basic understanding of widely used computer equipment and programs, such as: MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Adobe Professional, and the Internet.
Basic understanding of records retention policies and procedures.
Awareness of professional information management trends, resources, and publications.
Ability to follow instructions.
Demonstrated ability to be mentored and coached to meet program goals.
Excellent customer service attitude and orientation.
Ability to work in a flexible, highly complex and varied work environment and must be able to manage multiple priorities.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally.
Implement/manage electronic document and records management systems preferred.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.
Strong computer proficiency and understanding of computer technology required
Ability to respond to and manage regulatory and internal audit requests promptly and in professional manner.
Work with a team that provides operational support for a business segment or group.
Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function.
Works with the Records Manager to ensure appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications.
