Salary: $95,000 – $110,000
Job Description: Terrapin is the premier licensed grower/processor of medical marijuana in Pennsylvania. As we grow to meet ever-increasing demand for our products, Terrapin seeks an energetic and motivated Assistant Controller at our Jersey Shore, PA cultivation/extraction/production facility to ensure its ongoing financial and operational success. The Assistant Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the facility, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Manage outsourced functions
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly
Process payroll in a timely manner
Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Issue timely and complete financial statements
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Provide for a system of management cost reports Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Maintain proper insurance is carried for the location
Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
Experience with intercompany transactions
Proficient in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Accounting Software, and Databases
Ability to manage large amounts of data 2
High attention to detail
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
High energy level with the ability to take ownership and show initiative
Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to perform other duties as needed
Ability to pass a Federal and Pennsylvania State Background Check
Experience with QuickBooks and SAP accounting systems a plus
Manufacturing and retail experience a plus
Strong cost accounting skills a plus
Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire. Proof of vaccination required.
