Job Responsibilities/Duties

Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) is looking for a quick-learning and hardworking storyteller who can help explain how the WRPS team is safely advancing the Hanford Site’s tank waste management and treatment mission.

The right candidate will provide a wide range of communication and public relations support, involving extensive research, conducting interviews, writing and editing. The candidate is part of the team responsible for keeping employees, the media, stakeholders and the general community informed of company activities, objectives and accomplishments and will be involved with the conceptualization, preparation, publication and distribution of a variety of printed, electronic and visual communication products.

The Communications Specialists responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Under direct supervision, composes, edits and/or prepares internal materials, including company publications (e.g. newsletters, brochures), group emails, intranet pages, presentations, employee meeting materials and various other materials for dissemination through organizational communication channels;Provide written support for news releases and other communications and material intended for an external audience;Gain and maintain a strong understanding of the WRPS business and its structure, as well as a general understanding of corporate affiliates, customers and stakeholder roles and relationships;Support the department at internal and external activities and events as assigned by the Communications & Public Relations Manager;Help ensure overall team success by supporting individual initiatives, needs and priorities;
Assist in developing, planning, writing, editing, and disseminating information to drive employee engagement through executive and enterprise communications;Monitor and respond to employee feedback;Visit the field and interview source person and research subjects in order to obtain information and verify facts;Participate in improvement activities or company initiatives;May work with graphic design personnel to review proofs for print pages, web pages, and navigation;May coordinate production and distribution of materials;Assist in maintaining WRPS’ online presence; andPerform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in related field such as Journalism or Communications, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications

* Working knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, software.

Proven ability to research, draft and edit written communication.
