If you agree, you’ve come to the right place.GCOM is looking for candidates, to fill the role of Community Engagement Specialist to innovative Data Analytics/Qlarion Team located in Reston, VA.Key Responsibilities: The Community Engagement Specialist role will provide support for GCOM Analytic Team creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, arranging meetings, liaising with internal stakeholders to communicate requirements and gather feedback, preparing data for further analysis and reporting, tracking meeting minutes and actions, and providing general administrative support to enable continuous growth of a project dedicated to understanding the social impact of Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The project is in its third year and is building a community of engaged users of a multidisciplinary and multiagency data repository that is used to help the people who live in the Commonwealth and are impacted by SUD.This role will require experience in hosting forums with community partners like nonprofit organizations, social sector organizations, and individuals unaffiliated with formal organizations to develop partnerships and build rapport with entities across the Commonwealth of Virginia that focus on the overdose epidemic. You will be required to reach out to people via phone calls, emails, and direct messages in meetings to generate awareness about the reports and resources made available through this project and to increase the user base of the analytics generated by the developers.You will have to:Work directly with community members to build a network of resources for the treatment of substance use disorder across the Commonwealth of VirginiaUse your understanding of addiction as a mental disease that can be overcome with integrated treatment to develop a community of treatment offerings that include Harm Reduction as well as Prevention approachesProvide education on needs for mental illness and addictive disorders, advocacy, coordination of services, and problem-solving in professional settings with behavioral and mental health professionals across VirginiaIdentify opportunities for awareness and engagement with the Project LeadTranslate data into compelling stories to increase engagement on the projectConduct regional and Commonwealth-wide meetings to increase user population and volume of active usersQualifications: Our U.S. Govt. clients contractually require us to hire ONLY U.S. Citizens for their projectsEducation: Must have high school diploma, Certified Peer Counselor, Recovery SpecialistAt least 5 years of active recoverySubmit a cover letter stating why you chose your sober life?Able to conduct remote meetings via technical platforms, have a valid license, and able to travel across the Commonwealth for meetingsMust have sufficient knowledge of the substance abuse population, treatment planning, and the field of human social services to work toward the rehabilitation of the patient communityAptitude for science-backed decision making and use proper judgment with confidential and sensitive issuesBackground of dealing appropriately with people in stressful or other undesirable situations with an ability to seek direction from supervisors when necessarySelf-motivated, action-oriented, multi-tasking individual with a great sense of urgency and follow-throughHigh integrity and sound judgment; able to react quickly and make effective decisionsExcellent communication skills, verbal and writtenAbility to work independently and under pressure while handling multiple tasks simultaneouslyIf you think you are a good fit for us, we encourage you to apply.
