Job Description : Title: Customer Service RepresentativeDepartment: Retail SalesReports to: Retail Sales Supervisor/ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptHiring Manager: Roy RoamPosition Summary Big Ray’s customer service representatives provide professional, prompt and friendly attention to customers, interact with customers to process transactions, respond to inquiries, and assist with concerns and requests about products and services. Customer service representatives should be mindful that excellent customer service is not only a goal of this company but a requirement to achieve our goal as a successful company. Our business is our customer, not our products or services.Essential Job FunctionsGreet and interact with customers both in person and via telephone.Consult with each customer to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.Answer customer questions about merchandise.Demonstrate and explain merchandise; selecting and suggesting options to suit customers’ needs.Process customer transactions to include follow-up of sale, entering merchandise into computer system, receiving forms of payment, and counting change.Place special orders.Maintain knowledge of products and current sales/promotions.Package merchandise and process for mailing in accordance with USPS standards when processing mail order transactions.Double check orders and shipments for accuracy and efficiency of order processing.Retrieve merchandise from sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.Direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resource.Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts; know how to prevent or handle these situations.May be required to open the store by counting beginning of the day funds or close the store by settling credit card machine(s) and counting down the till(s).Non-Essential Job Functions Drive motor vehicle as needed.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Independent Decision-Making Make routine job-related decisions.Supervision Received and Exercised This position is supervised by the retail sales supervisor/manager. No supervision exercised. Limited oversight and supervision exercised as the Person In Charge (PIC)Physical and Mental Demands The physical demands of this position require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing.Requires near vision to write and read printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speaking to exchange information on the telephone or in person. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to use carts, ladders, dollies, and stools to assist in moving or shelving items. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers may also be required. Requires the ability to operate a vehicle safely. Requires the ability to climb a flight of stairs. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.Big Ray’s is committed to providing reasonable accommodations, according to the applicable state and federal laws, to all individuals with qualified physical and mental disabilities. Work Environment This position is performed in a dynamic, fast-paced retail setting with the offices located adjacent to the sales floor or on the second floor. The employee will be on the retail floor among clothing and related fixtures or in the warehouse among boxes of clothing and customer records. Evening and weekend work is required.Job Qualifications The following are required:Excellent active listening skills.Ability to provide exceptional customer service.Ability to handle data and information with accuracy.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to learn about and utilize technology/computer applications needed to perform job duties.The following are preferred: High school diploma or GED.One year of customer service experience.One year of retail experience.Additional job information This position requires regular attendance in accordance with established schedule as this is the most common time to conduct business with customers, vendors and employees.
