Position Information
Assists in the administration of the operational functions of the City and County of Honolulu’s housing assistance program. Directs activities related to the provision of housing assistance benefits to eligible families. Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and evaluates operational activities to meet program goals and objectives. Performs other related duties as required.

The current vacancy is with the Department of Community Services, Community Assistance Division. This position supervises the Operations Section of the Rental Assistance Branch, and is responsible for providing day-to-day direction and oversight of the program management functions pertaining to the administration of Section 8 rental assistance.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.

Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Five (5) years of professional (i.e., post-bachelor’s degree, non-clerical) work experience which involved interviewing clients to elicit information; verifying and analyzing the information obtained; and determining clients’ needs and/or entitlements based on the application of pertinent principles, practices, policies, standards, and/or guidelines, of which four (4) years shall have been in determining eligibility for public or social assistance programs (e.g., housing or rental assistance).
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: Work experience which involved supervising professionals and support staff (e.g., clerical, customer service representatives).
