Position : Librarian, Technical Services
Job Description : The Margaret Herrick Library is seeking a resourceful, energetic, service-oriented Librarian, Technical Services. You will support and provide analog and digital processing, and collection maintenance activities of the Technical Services department. This fundamental position will be supervised by the Supervising Librarian, Metadata. In a supporting role, you will provide service relative to access and preservation of the library’s Core Collections of books, periodicals, scripts and assist with projects in the Core Collection Reference Files department. Assisting within the framework of library practices, you will be involved in developing innovations that utilize our current technologies to enhance the library’s discovery and delivery expertise. You will participate in department activities, including cataloging, circulation, and digitization projects. Working collaboratively with the Technical Services team and library staff, you will provide expert service to the Academy and the public. You will apply departmental and library policies and procedures to complete a wide range of complex tasks in creative and effective ways. You have the aptitude to thrive in an exciting, ambitious, future-oriented film studies institution and to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities.
Responsibilities:
Support metadata projects and basic cataloging.
Process and distribute incoming materials.
Maintain collections, stacks, and prepare materials for conservation and/or bindery.
Assist with Core Collection digitization projects.
Circulate materials and maintain off-site storage collections.
Participate in departmental and library wide committees and work groups.
Other library and department duties as assigned.
