Job Description : Bluestone Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital is seeking dynamic healthcare professionals interested in bringing psychiatric care to a new level for children ages 6-17. Working in a brand new, 12 bed state-of-the-art facility, Bluestone staff will have a unique ability to direct patient care, employ best practices, and join a care network that promotes the best long-term outcomes for patients.We are hiring Mental Health Technicians to provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. As a member of our team, you will provide for the personal care and comfort of psychiatric patients. You will participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists clinicians in organizing clients for group counseling, individual counseling and case management in a learning role.Assists in the admissions process, answer patient questions, assist patient in adjusting to the program routine, takes vital signs and records on the Nursing Assessment Form and notifies RN of changes.Acts as the liaison between the patient and the nursing and clinical treatment staff to report any changes in the patient’s physical or mental condition.Responsible for supervising patients during intensive levels of care with an emphasis on patient safety and well-being.Performs general nursing care, i.e., transferring patients, assisting with ADLs.Monitors patient’s compliance with pre and post procedure instructions, under the supervision of the RN.Demonstrates the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention.Provides ongoing feedback about the patient’s behavior to the nurse and/or other appropriate health care team members for the plan of care and its reevaluation.Able to perform safety checks at scheduled times, documents appropriately.Responsible for one-on-one observation for High-risk patients.Demonstrates the ability to set limits for patients and other de-escalation techniques.Utilize verbal and physical de-escalation as warranted in order to keep patients safe and remain current in warranted certification and training.Reports immediately to the nurse any unsafe conditions and/or safety violations.Demonstrates the ability to perform crisis intervention which may include seclusion and/or restraint.Assist with therapeutic groups under the direction of the RNCommunicates appropriately and clearly to the Nurse Executive, RNs, physicians and other team members.Documentation meets current standards and policies.Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, provides emotional support.Performs patient care, according to policy and procedure, and competency, in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.Demonstrates all applicable competencies for the position and participates in periodic re-evaluation of such competencies.Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.Answers the telephone and communicates in a professional manner at all times, directs calls appropriately, takes messages.Operates equipment safely and correctly.Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with the other departments of the facility.Orients new staff members.Demonstrates the ability to be organized and flexible, acts appropriately in stressful/emergency situations.Education/Licensure/Skills/Experience Requirements: All Bluestone Child & Adolescent Hospital employees must have a full COVID-19 vaccination or exemption.Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, or certification as an STNACurrent BCLS certification.A minimum of one (1) year experience with at-risk youth, autism, psychiatric/mental health conditions strongly preferred.Additional languages in addition to English preferred.Job Types: Full-time, Part-timeBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveRetirement planTuition reimbursementVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftDay shiftHolidaysMonday to FridayNight shiftOvertimeWeekend availabilitySupplemental Pay:Signing bonusEducation:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:Behavioral health: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:Driver’s License (Preferred)Work Location: One location
