Joining the Adult Services program, the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will enhance the dietary lifestyles of our Adult Services participants by educating and demonstrating them on diverse nutritional values.
Under the supervision of the Senior Center Director, the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is responsible for the dietary and nutritional services of Adult Services participants. Following the program’s guidelines, the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will advise and educate participants on nutritional needs to help improve their health and lifestyle.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Registered Dietitian and/or Certified Nutritionist must be registered through the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions; have experience providing nutrition education for Older Adults; have knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen safety; use integrative approach techniques to help participants understand the interactions between a diversified diet, changes in lifestyle and the environment. Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow program participation guidelines
Develop and document relevant nutritional education materials
Educate groups about the importance of a diversified diet
Provide techniques for achievable lifestyle changes that improve nutritional status
Provide easy to follow recipes that are sensitive to the access/availability of items
Conduct healthy eating food preparation/cooking demonstrations
Perform other duties as assigned
