Job Description : Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of six PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Through our commitment to rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, deep family and community engagement, and health and wellness, we create lifelong learners who are equipped to fulfill their vision of success in and out of the classroom. The DREAM Student Recruitment team is looking for part-time support with generating new applications for our East Harlem, Mott Haven and Highbridge campuses. Reporting to the Director of Student Recruitment, Student Recruitment Support staff will be given weekly assignments to execute as part of the student recruitment strategy. Ideal team members will enjoy talking to new people, have both a love for and deep knowledge of DREAM schools and be comfortable with data entry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Make phone calls to prospective families, enter applications in DREAM’s database and record call outcomes in a tracker
Drop off flyers at local daycares, head starts, libraries, healthcare facilities and other community-based organizations in East Harlem, Mott Haven, and Highbridge
Table at local organizations or in highly trafficked areas near DREAM campuses to hand out flyers, collect paper applications, and represent DREAM
QUALIFICATIONS
Can effectively communicate with prospective families in person and over the phone and serve as a positive ambassador for DREAM
Able and willing to independently travel between East Harlem, Mott Haven and Highbridge neighborhoods of New York City with supplies such as flyers, primarily during business hours (10am-5pm)
Ability to make calls primarily between the hours of 5-7pm
Effective time management and ability to prioritize
Able to keep information organized in order to complete tasks in a timely manner
Able to enter data accurately and in a timely manner
A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the belief that all students can succeed, and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.
COMMITMENT
Start date: immediate
End date: flexible, between June and August
Hours and schedule:
10-20 hours/week
The 10 hours can be split up throughout the week and will include a mix of remote and in-person work
The ideal candidate has availability to work in-person in Mott Haven and Highbridge between 10am-5pm, and the ability to work remotely at times from 5-7pm.
COMPENSATION
$20/hour
