As audio has expanded from music to podcasts, audiobooks, and beyond – so has a creator’s ability to monetize and distribute their work. From monthly subscriptions to membership apps, creators are finding new ways to grow their audience – and we want to bring all of this content to Spotify. In the coming years, Spotify will redefine what it means for creators to monetize their work, as well as how listeners discover and gain access to that paid content.
The Audiobooks and Gated Content Vertical is responsible for bringing all the world’s paid audio to Spotify and becoming the ubiquitous destination for its consumption. This is a newly formed team within Spotify and this role will play a critical part of bringing high-profile strategic programs to market.
What you’ll do:
Lead program management of our audiobooks program as we prepare to bring Audiobooks to market and as we scale globally
Fundamentally understand the Audiobooks strategy and clearly represent it in various cross-functional forums across the company
Dissect and understand product, technical, legal, tax, finance, and monetization challenges and considerations, and be able to explain them in a clear way to cross-functional collaborators
Work closely with tech, product, design, finance, tax, legal, marketing, and operational teams to define and coordinate roadmaps and clearly map out dependencies
Set up execution frameworks and coordinate with cross-functional working groups to deliver a large-scale ongoing program with multiple connected workstreams
Lead day-to-day program operations and R+D delivery management, working with various collaborators to facilitate coordination and teamwork
Lead quarterly planning cycles for the program across all dependency teams, fostering into broader org
Track progress of work, turning points, and blockers in an organized and easily shareable way
Communicate program updates to all relevant parties using a variety of communication channels and tactics
Independently document and report progress of the program to company level planning cycles and planning forums
Drive decision making and alignment across multiple members of the senior leadership team
Who you are:
Demonstrable experience delivering and representing large scale consumer-facing product programs in fast-paced environments with experience managing high profile public launches
Intrigued by difficult problem areas with multiple constituencies (consumers, creators, content, etc) to satisfy in order to achieve success
Adept understanding and eagerness to learn intricate requirements sets across multiple subject areas (R+D, Finance, Tax, Legal, Content, Marketing
You have a proven track record of influencing and delivering without formal authority over the teams with whom you are working
You intimately understand the process of developing Go To Market plans and prioritizing multiple concurrent teams to deliver on them
You are a self-learner who loves solving new challenges you may not have experience navigating
You’re comfortable balancing multiple concurrent projects in an agile, fast-paced, and international environment
You are comfortable with quickly developing and changing timelines and managing for shifts in priorities along the way
You’re extremely organized, a clear communicator, have excellent attention to detail, and bring transparency to projects
Experience working on audiobooks, monetization, and/ or content programs is a plus
