JOB SUMMARY: Provides general clerical support in the Radiology and Laboratory departments. Maintains all clerical activities, including data entry, gathering reference lab forms, filing and making copies that need to be uploaded into patient charts. Assembles and distributes documents, maintains appointment schedules, provides information to patients, answers the telephone promptly, takes and relays accurate messages. Performs limited duties involved in handling and processing of blood and body fluids such as urine, stool, spinal fluid, sputum, etc.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Demonstrates computer competency including Microsoft Word and Excel, effective written and oral communication skills, and have knowledge of general clerical duties. Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: None.
D. Experience:
Prior Work Experience: One year experience in a health care setting preferred.
Technical Training: Basic computer experience required. CPR required or attained within 90 days of hire.
E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of sitting, intermittent walking and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with some lifting up to 40 pounds. Must have the ability to comprehend and follow routine written and verbal instructions or directions. The ability to adjust focus is required. Must possess the ability to read and interpret instructions when communicating with patients, their family members, co-workers, and other staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Provides general clerical support in the departments.
a. Collects and records information about tests to be performed.
b. Prepares appointment logs and relays information to patients about requirements for various tests.
c. Obtains patient signatures as needed.
d. Receives and distributes reports and records as needed.
e. Assists in retrieving charts and images for physicians.
f. Assist with distribution of accurate patient information to various physician’s clinic.
g. Demonstrates behaviors that promote positive relations with staff, patients, and visitors.
h. Prepares records and discs for mailing.
i. Monitors office supplies and submits requisitions as needed.
B. Answers the telephone.
a. Answers phone in a polite, professional manner and communications with patients to schedule various radiological imaging exams, lab collection, and reference lab collection.
b. Answers inquiries concerning activities and operations of the department by referring to and interpreting policies and procedures.
C. Follows policies and procedures for infection control and facility safety in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
a. Attends annual safety education as scheduled.
b. Observes safety regulations and procedures covering safety related issues.
c. Observes infection control practices at all times.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:
A. Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information.
B. Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties and willingly accepts additional assignments.
C. Reports to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
D. Follows Patient’s Rights policies at all times.
E. Adheres to dress code; wears identification while on duty.
F. Attends educational opportunities provided by the hospital for this job category.
G. Completes annual education/OSHA requirements in a timely manner.
WORK SCHEDULE:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
