We are currently hiring for Surgery Scheduler. It’s a full time position (40hrs), Monday-Friday with benefits/PTO/401K, etc. as well as competitive pay starting at $22+/hr., based upon the candidates experience. Sorensonvision.comThe Surgery Scheduler position is the main point of customer service contact for our patients / patient family members to schedule and educate on surgeries. The Surgery Scheduler will also perform a variety of other duties including but not limited to collecting and updating demographics and insurance information, verification of health plan eligibility, taking complete and accurate messages, and scheduling mutually acceptable appointment times.REQUIRED SKILLS1 yr of previous surgical coordinating experience (Ophthalmology a huge plus!)Computer experience is essential, including, but not limited to: practice management software, word processing.Familiarity with medical terminology.Excellent customer service skills; ability to handle patient phone calls compassionately and efficientlyStrong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to multi-task and work courteously and respectfully with fellow employees, clients and patients.Ability to work autonomously, multi-task in a high-volume environment, and provide quality compassionate patient care is essential.Able to follow oral and written instructions precisely and keen attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.DETAILED WORK ACTIVITIESCore duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Provide a warm and engaging atmosphere to instill confidence in our patients and create an exceptional experience.Schedule patients for medical procedures/surgeries; assist patients through the process from initial consultation to the completion of the surgery.Verify all insurances and obtain authorizations prior to surgery date.Discuss and coordinate financial arrangements prior to surgery including the collection of payments prior to the day of surgery.Follow up as needed to ensure medical clearances are obtained by patient prior to surgery.Ensure all patient questions are answered and phone call are returned.Assemble and review charts prior to surgery to ensure accuracy of lens, eye, procedure and special instructions.Act as liaison between the office, the hospital and the surgery center: Arrange the booking/orders of the surgery schedules, contacting appropriate personnel at hospital or surgery center to schedule blocked time for surgeon and order appropriate supplies and reserve equipment.We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for full time employment.
