Position : Water Asset Planning Manager

Job Description : Are you passionate about asset planning/management and all the ways that you can help an organization make better informed decisions? Do you have a vision of what an effective asset planning and management program would look like for a water utility? If so, we would love to meet you and hear all about it.
Tacoma Water’s Asset Planning team is part of the workgroup known as System and Asset Planning (SnAP) which resides in the Planning and Engineering Division. The Asset Planning team is responsible for advancing asset management objectives, implementing Tacoma Water’s asset management philosophy and framework, supporting utility-wide execution and sustaining asset management practices. This team also partners with the System Planning team to develop the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
The Asset Planning team is an integral part of our asset management governance structure where they:

support objectives defined by the executive level Asset Management Steering team by
developing strategies to meet those objectives and then
overseeing the asset management planning (AMP) teams in the execution of those strategies.
This team is a fairly new team that was formed as part of a reorganization and we have a huge appetite for new and innovative ways to do the right work at the right time. We are looking for someone with good ideas, and a passion for asset management and people leading to become part of the team as we mature and achieve all that we can in asset planning/management for Tacoma Water. This position reports directly to the Assistant Division Manager and collaborates heavily with teams and individuals all across Tacoma Water. Responsibilities include:
Develop, manage, update and monitor implementation of short and long term asset management policy, strategy, objectives and work plans.
Make asset related recommendations for a vast number of water utility assets such as pumps, hydrants, valves, tanks, and even electrical equipment.
Oversee the development and implementation for Asset Management Plans (AMPs), including oversight of the asset management planning process and implementation of AMP recommendations.
Work with staff and senior leadership in assuring consistency and quality of asset management plans, risk-based decision models, documentation, standards and application of practices and procedures across Tacoma Water.
Establish and implement improvements to asset management procedures and standards. Initiate and conduct efficiency goals and optimization efforts; involve representatives from the organization to identify and implement improvements.
Conduct research on asset management topics, practices and tools. Implement new ideas to enhance Tacoma Water’s asset management program.
Supervise, manage and develop staff in the asset planning group.

This opportunity includes a telework-in office hybrid option.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Desirable Qualifications
5+ years progressively responsible relevant experience, including 3+ years in supervisory capacity;
Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field, related experience can substitute for a degree
