Job Description : Position Summary
A Trail Crew staff member is responsible for the maintenance of trails and grounds keeping in the bike park and base area by performing the following duties. A Trail Crew Member understands trail building design and construction techniques, is an advanced level mountain bike rider, and possesses general construction skills as well as the ability to operate an all-terrain vehicle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Works with the crew to maintain the trails within the bike park and surrounding areas.
Performs grounds keeping duties around trails and around base area.
Patrols the park to assure trail readiness and assists patrol opening trails on occasion.
Shoveling, raking, and walking/hiking on a daily basis.
Maintains all wood and man-made features.
Weed-whacking on a bi-weekly basis.
Downhill bike riding
Operates a variety of hand tools, power tools and some heavy equipment including but not limited to shovels, axes, chainsaws, nail guns, ATVs, etc.
Required to assist with bike park events.
Maintains communication with bike patrol and mountain operations staff and makes arrangement for the maintenance and or repair of any trail sections or features reported in need of maintenance and or repair.
Constantly monitors all areas of the bike park for potential hazards including but not limited to downed trees, limbs, and branches, missing or damaged signage, soil or rock erosion, feature damage or degradation.
Assists in setup, takedown and operation of Airbag operations.
Self-motivated individual who takes pride in constructing and maintaining awesome bike trails with amazing flow.
Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related or unrelated to original position.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must be a minimum of 18 years old by start date
Minimum of completed High school education
Good judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
Some knowledge of Mountain Bike Terrain
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
Hand and power-tool training and familiarity
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee must be able to lift 50+ pounds, push, pull, or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object. Excellent stamina is required. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
