THE POSITION
Under administrative direction of the City Manager, performs a wide variety of tasks related to communications, community relations, social media, the city website, special events and media relations as well as special projects assigned by the City Manager; plans and coordinates internal and strategic external communications activities and operations; manages the city website and social media presence; may advise City Departments on public relations and communications issues, and serves as communications link to the public and news media; coordinates activities and serves as liaison with City staff, outside agencies, and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in journalism, public relations, communications, public administration, political science, business administration or a closely related field; AND
Four (4) years of experience in public relations, media relations, marketing, information services, website management, social media, community programs, special events and administrative analysis
WE WOULD REALLY LOVE IT IF YOU:
Are bilingual (Spanish) or multi-lingual.
Have experience working directly with people from a diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic cultures, backgrounds, and opinions.
One (1) year event management experience.

SELECTION PROCESS

Establishment of Eligibility List: Candidates who successfully complete the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list for a period of at least six (6) months.
